Hello! My Name is Megan :)
So, in my experience as a 21, almost 22, year old woman I have had my fair share of different wines. And I will admit I definitely prefer a white wine over a red any day of the week.
I would like to note that my whole family is a bourbon drinking family. So, naturally, when I turned 21, I was instantly handed a bunch of different types of bourbons. Because of this I have become an avid taster of bourbon and have even visited a few distilleries in Kentucky.
However, this class isn't about bourbon. It's about wine, which is one of the many things my mom and I have bonded over since I turned 21. Most of the time whenever my mom poured herself a glass, I was offered a glass. Nine times out of ten, this would be a glass of some kind of red wine. Although if dinner was chicken or seafood, she would pour us a glass of a white.
Most of my tastings have occurred in a very casual setting, normally with just myself and my mom. Based on what I've tasted I have learned a few things about my particular taste buds:
1) I am not a huge fan of wines that have more bitter notes.
2) I like a more floral/fruity wine, but not super sweet like a Moscato.
3) My favorite wine I have tasted thus far has been Cooper & Thief. It's got a toasty taste to it that I really enjoy.
Although I don't know much about wine, tasting wine and picking out its characteristics/notes, or the best pairings, I am looking forward to learning the ropes to all things wine! A friend of mine took this course and I was lucky to be invited to her weekly wine nights she hosted for this class; those nights created such fond memories for me. Those nights are the reason I decided to enroll in this class. Obviously, I'm excited to have wine nights with my closest friends but I am also excited to learn everything there is to know about wine so I can go home to my mom being a wine connoisseur.
